TAIWA JAZZ BAND AND DANCERS IN RIO DE JANEIRO

BONDIAS BRAZIL!!!

Taiwa Jazz Band were in Rio from the 23rd of September to the 3rd of October. After a long but very exciting flight to Sao Paulo and then a connecting flight ot Rio, the landed in the land of Samba and Soccer on flight JJ 8051.

The Taiwa Jazz Band and Dancers were hosted By IBISS, a cultural organisation based on Rio who have collaborative connections with the Cultural Development Trust, Mundial Productions and the United Cultures for Development. IBISS were wonderful hosts and treated Taiwa Jazz Band to the extroadinary sights and sounds of Brazil.

The taiwa Jazz Band played in some of the leading Jazz venues in Rio including Estudantina, Espírito das Artes, Bangu Atlético Clube and The Maze Jazz Club. They also collaborated and performed with a number of Brazilian bands including Hip Hop group Movimento na Rua and Percu’Som who play some traditional Brazillian percussion. The band learnt a lot from these multinational interactions and experienced a wide range of music they had previously not been exposed to.

The band also had a great time sight seeing and went to the famous Copacabana Beach and Sugar Loaf Mountain and the huge Christ Statue.
A great time and lifelong connections were made! Thankyou to Marlies, IBISS, the Cultural Development Trust and Mundial for the increadible opportunity.
